A 9/11 Tribute

by

Debra J. Stanton

The day started like any other

How were we to know

That evil masterminds were all too ready

To hatch their demented plans

Who would’ve guessed

Our aunts, uncles, mothers, fathers,

Cousins, daughters, sons and grandparents

Would collectively be taken from us too soon

Let us carry on for them

And reflect the good they brought us

The love that will never die

And the spirit that can’t be wiped out
